The Corps of Commissionaires, 'The Corps' is an Australian institution. Founded with the motto 'loyalty, integrity, service', the Corps was established in England during 1859 by retired Captain Sir Edward Walter, to provide employment for former members of the armed services.

The Corps in Australia was started in 1946 as an organisation to locate work for returning veterans of the Second World War. The modern Corps accepts member from all services in the community, including Emergency services and Defence. We formally established ourselves in 1939 providing resettlement assistance to Australia’s military serving in the Second World War. Among its many roles, it provided ex-Diggers with jobs and upheld the motto: ‘loyalty, integrity, service’.
